Extrapolation And Future Schools In 2059?

Now that you have read many of your peers' Future School Extrapolation Projects, what are you thinking?  Holistically, what are your reasonable extrapolations regarding all of the extrapolations you have read?  What potential changes excite you the most?  What potential changes fill you with angst and apprehension?  Other thoughts?

  1. After reading through many of the other projects, the biggest similarity I saw was the advancement of technology, and how we will be much further ahead in that field than we are right now. However, one project did mention that technology will become so advanced that school's will have actual classed based on learning these new sources of technology, thus leading to new jobs that will be available in the future as well, also due to the advancement of new technology. That's something I'd really like to see because we already feel much more advanced from a technology standpoint in school if you were to compare it was when our parents went to school.-logan lewis

  2. Many of the projects I saw had an emphasis on Virtual Reality technology being the future of schooling. This means that students would "attend" school at home, and teachers would be replaced by artificial intelligence. Could VR be the future of education? Only time will tell.

  3. When reading through the many depictions of schools in the future, a common theme was the greater reliance on technology, and less on physical items. Schools and teachers were nonexistent in many projects, opting for a more stay at home, online type schooling.

  4. One interesting idea I saw was the absence of homework in its entirety, which both excited me and made me wish for change in our current school workspace. One interesting thing that i saw changed from project to project, is that some had schools take less time and only have shorter, easier classes, while others had schools with longer hours and more advanced classes.

  5. After reading through people project. Robots and more hands on learning is the way we see how the education will change. Instead of teachers we will have robots teaching them and with better technology.

  6. After reading through some of the projects I saw that there was a huge focus on holographics/VR. Also most of them focused on being a clean entirely new environment. Some of them liked to focus on them being a school where you go to versus a school which you stay at home and learn (Which is a reality today). The courses they have in the future were brand new concepts taking into play that the jobs we have today may not exist. Al classes are based on technology and there is no such thing as paper in that time.

  7. After reading through other projects It seemed like we all had a similar idea for the future of schools. One cool idea I saw was holographic computers for school in the future. A majority of students took teachers out of the picture and even going to an actual school was off the table.

  8. After looking at my classmates projects, I have drawn the conclusion that school will heavily be based around technology. There are many exciting changes that I think will be a reality very soon. One of those changes is strapping on a VR headset and using that instead of going to a real school. I like this because going to a real school can be a struggle for many people. This project really has me on the edge of my seat, ready for new changes.

  9. When I walked around, I saw a lot of VR ideas about how students will not even need to attend class anymore. Unlike my project, some kids said that there will be a lot of electives and choices in your classes. I said that the information will be only core classes with 3 to 4 hours of straight information. Overall, I found many similarities with my project that I found in others.

  10. After doing a gallery walk some of the biggest themes I saw were how technology will become even more prominent in schools than it is today, and how schools will still resemble what they are today for the most part. Some of the changes that excite me the most is more optimized technology, but some of the changes that I don't like are the pressure put on students, and the focus on computer oriented curriculum. Overall, I think that many different possibilities were explored, and many of them reasonable.

  11. There were many changes to the school system that were in every project. One main thing that progressed was technology and how it will make days shorter/make the class work on more computer things such as coding. The changes will change the way people look at life and how humanity will function within the society-Nathaniel McClendon

  12. The suprising lack of human teachers scared me. Teaching requires a human element and its absence may seriously affect the way that future generations learn, and maybe not in the positive. The new and exciting technology is definetly a plus though.

  13. I saw just one and it was about how you would learn from home and learn with electronics. I would say i would be most excited about is teleportation since you would almost never be late

  14. I saw many great presentations. After reading through lot of them they same idea which makes sense. Most presentations either talked about teachers not being in the classroom, or the student not being in the classroom which all tied into technology. I too went based off of technology because that is where the world is going. I liked the idea people had where school is basically VR, so you're never really in school.

  15. After reading through some of the projects I could see that many of them were the same in the sense that many people took the technological route to say that normal schooling will be no longer and that all school will come from an output of electricity. I think it is very realistic because that seems to be the way our society is moving. Companies can make more money making online schools and hiring many teachers will be a thing of the past because you have have a virtual classroom of however many people you want because the size isn't dictated now by physical space taken up but rather just virtual streaming. I think this will be bad for society because people will learn to be even more anti-social and have less reasoning skills than people do now.

  16. After looking at my classmates projects I have learned that most of us believe that most of schooling will be done at home with personal advanced technology. There will be a lack of teachers because all of the learning will be done personally. Because of the technology advancements there will be lack of communication between students.

  17. The most consistent theme throughout all of the projects that I looked at was that of a breakthrough in technology allowing for a virtual classroom or virtual teachers and lessons. I am excited to possibly see this in the future because it would allow for a more immersive learning experiences. The idea that I would say fills me with angst is the possible lack of necessary resources and a lack of employment.

  18. I noticed that a lot was about the advancement of technology and how it will become one of the main things in future schools. I would like to see how far we will take technology and how far people are willing to see the outcome of education.

  19. After browsing through many of my peers projects a similarity I noticed was that of Virtual Reality and Technology. The social aspect of the classroom was almost nonexistent. Many projects suggested that student's learning would be more specialized to that individual' s personal needs. I noticed that there was either a very high tech classroom or it was all digital. Many students mentioned not having to take many classes besides the main core classes. One that particularly interested me was the idea of technological advancement to the human body and how one could have something in their arm to stimulate muscle and fat growth and to stop it to have all children at a ideal weight. All reasonable extrapolations I didn't see anything unreasonable.

  20. I saw many similar ideas in a lot of the projects that I viewed. The most common was the absence of teachers/school faculty, who have been either replaced by robots or exist online. I liked seeing how each person had different perspectives on how technology would advance over 40 years' time. The idea of having a partially robot population is both exciting and mildly terrifying. Exciting of course, seeing that tech has advanced to the point of artificial intelligence (?). On the other hand, as artificial intelligence and robots have been represented in media.

  21. One theme that I saw throughout multiple projects is that school was catered to individual students. Many projects extrapolated that classes would become more centered on students' hobbies and potential careers rather than general knowledge. Almost all of the projects I saw mentioned that the teaching methods would be catered to students' individual learning styles. Many projects mentioned that most lessons would be taught by virtual reality or other digital methods, and social interaction would be diminished, which I don't think is a good direction to move in.

  22. After examining the other projects, I found a common theme of advanced technology being put aside for more valuable human interaction. Sure, almost all of the projects featured very advanced technology, but just as many had some way to limit or restrict it in favor of physical classes or supplies. This leads me to extrapolate that, no matter how far technology comes, it will never completely take over. It will advance, sure, but we've started to realize that the physical world is just as important, if not more, as the digital one. I am excited to see all the ways in which this advanced tech will effect our everyday lives.

  23. After looking through many of the other students projects I can see many things that they have done similarly. An example of this would be the main focus of a lot of the projects which was mainly focused on adding more and more technologic advances to the school in the future. I personally love the idea of adding more technology to schools because it would take pressure off the students who could be stressing about losing any paper assignments that a teacher may have given. I still saw that people were integrating teachers into the school in the future which I am not particularly fond of because in my mind teachers can make mistakes but an AI mind would have a much lower chance of making mistakes. So I wish that technology would be the biggest integration into school in the future which in my opinion should include AIs.

  24. Many of the projects that I read showed the idea of having either online school or Vr school. Most of the pictures were obviously futuristic but I'm not sure if we will change the style of everything by that much. I like the idea of having classes designed for the one student giving them an education that benefits that one student more.
