Extrapolation And Future Schools In 2053?

Now that you have read many of your peers' Future School Extrapolation Projects, what are you thinking?  Holistically, what are your reasonable extrapolations regarding all of the extrapolations you have read?  What potential changes excite you the most?  What potential changes fill you with angst and apprehension?  Other thoughts?

  1. The majority of the presentations focused on the increase of technology, as well as the altered classroom structure and environment. The majority of the presentations also focused of the increase of security, from mild increases to killbots.

  3. I thought that most of the ideas in the gallery walk we really great. Their were a lot of computers with really great ideas, one person said seniors would graduate at 16 I thought that was pretty cool. I had a couple ideas with other people like, the things at the airport that move people. Many people focused on technology but the people who didn't had really great thoughts.

  4. One of the main trends was the mass use of technology that future classrooms are predicted to use. It’s projected that many classrooms will have purely technology in the classroom; many think the curriculum will be based on online sources and others that see the use of things such as webcams and other cameras to be able to communicate with other students and the teacher. Another trend was the collaborative process of the students in the classroom. Many people thought that instead of sitting through an hour of lecture, students would learn to talk to each other and work together in order to learn and achieve their goals.

I believe that schools in 40 years are going to change in a dramatic way. They will teach and have totally different curriculum's than schools in this day. I believe that all of these extrapolations that i read are true and will be in affect in 40 years. I believe that the learning environment will change the most because not all of students can learn in the learning environment implemented now. High school needs to prepare us more for college. I'm very excited to see what high school in 40 years has to offer. I hope that the younger generation gets a better opportunity than me.

  6. Over all the projects that I looked at i thought that they were all really good. Some things that excite me are things such as underwater and floating schools. Desks with touch screens built into them seem pretty cool but I don't think that will happen any time soon. The many teacher robots kinda freaks me out. I think that some how the teacher robots could become corrupt and might hurt people, but I think with the robots would come an emergency kill switch that would shut down all robots at the push of a button. I guess I could say i'm kinda looking forward to schools of 2053!

  7. After viewing the different presentations on the future it is easy to assume one thing. Technology will be of very high importance or use in future schooling. Everyone agrees, as do I, that technology will cause big changes in our learning throughout the years.
On all the presentations there was different ideas like security and robot teachers and helmets that teach the kids which I believe is a good idea but we may not see those ideas materialize until more time has passed.

  8. A common theme I noticed is that paper will be a thing of the past. Information, assignments, note taking, etc will be done with the use of some type of technology. Another common theme i found is class rooms will be more "green", starting with paperless, all the way to clean power source, powering the building, feeding its need for large quantities of electricity. The third common theme I found was teachers will be more engaged with the students, class size, specific learning based on skill sets, etc. Forty years from these ideas seem possible, the building itself will not change, nor will the people, but what goes on inside the building will be totally new.

  9. In the future schools project, the trends that I saw the most were that the school would be completely solar powered in 40 years, the structure of the classroom would change drastically from the teachers to the textbooks, and the school security and safety. The change that I am most excited by would have to be nap pods, and taking all classes online.

  10. Taking a look at my peer's works, I notice a trend of optimism and ingenuity, perpendicular to my extrapolation of poverty and pessimism. I noticed the incorporation of robots, tablet devices, and other high tech equipment in use in everyday school life. It seems that my fellow classmates enjoy the allure of technology and human advancement, whereas I focus on the wrong in America, and make predictions based on the current situation.

  11. Things that I saw in the future school projects were very reasonable and realistic. Some were more focused on security, like dog searches, backpack searches etc. but some were more focused on class productivity and upgraded technology. I saw a helmet that all student wear to experience the times they are learning and I saw a “fishbowl” like setting of a classroom. All my ideas were mostly expressed in mine and I saw some other ideas in the others.

  12. While I was browsing other projects during the Future Schools gallery walk, I noticed one thing that they all had in common. All their future schools were energy efficient, like my own. They had more windows and solar panels and many more things that saved money for the school. One idea I saw that I liked but was wary about was the focus-enhancing drug. This drug was passed out to students if they needed it which I like but it could be easily abused like any other drug out in the world. Looking through these projects gave me a sense of excitement. I’m excited to see what the actual schools of the future look like. I wonder if they will be anything like what we imagined.

  13. Technology is improved but all classes still remain the same such as how gym classes are still required. Technology with computers and other learning devices are high tech and the schools are rebuilt to look better. The classrooms along with the schools are rebuilt and look nicer on the outside and inside. There wasn't too many information about teachers and if they were going to still be teaching or not. There are still however classes that include math, science, language arts, and history. Many of the school's locations haven't changed from what I saw too.

  14. After scanning through my fellow classmates presentations, i notice there is a general trend for advances in technology and classroom interaction. Many of the presentations showed the most efficient alternatives to walking and using human teachers. The changes that excite me the most is the advances in technology because i'm a geek and computers are my job. The future technology is perceived as being highly advanced and intuitive, but i think within the 40 years between now and that time, i think it will be a good advance, but not an insane advance.

  15. After reading other kids ideas on future schools, I observed the class thinking that many new schools and new types of buildings would be built. I am sceptical of this idea because the buldings we have today are going to serve the same purpose as they would 40 yrs from now. All a classroom needs is 4 walls and a roof, expecially if the new way to learn will be on a computer. I wouldnt be surprised if when I came back to Littleton after 40 yrs Arapahoe was still in use and still up to date. -josh setter

  16. When I was reading some Future Schools projects, the most common topic was technology and security. By 2053 most people said that the classroom was going to be changed completely. In some projects, the teacher is removed, and some the teachers take a different approach towards teaching.

  17. It seems like in the future there will be many inventions to help you with your school day. also it seems like school might be online . also the learning style will be way different. robot teacher, online classes , memory chips, and special learning glasses. classes seems easier.

  18. A lot of the other people's projects had more fun with their ideas, whereas ours had more of a serious approach. I think that all the predictions that school will be more about comfort and how the schooling system will change to fit every students needs and their pace etc. are all really nice ideas but I don't know how long it will take for people to realize how far that goal is. Some of the projects said things about shortening the school year and that "excited' me the most. I think that if kids tried harder and really focused on getting good grades and learning that we could shorten the school year, but I also think that we would have to make younger kids learn a lot faster and a lot more.

  19. While exploring other peoples ideas for the outcome of the future. I have noticed that most people think that humans will become more reliable on technology. I also noticed an increase in security and other precautions. Based on the rising amount of violence now, that is a fair prediction to be made. Although, I’m excited about where we will be in 50 years, I am reluctant for society to become too dependent on technology. Human interaction has already decreased an enormous amount due to websites such as Facebook and Myspace, Im worried about how it will become in the future. Another trend I noticed, was things to capture moments in life, with things such as “camera glasses” or “mind cameras”,I am anxious for this prediction because we can just “look back at footage” instead of treasuring memories.

  20. My opinion on my peers examples of school in 2053 is that they are all a reasonable possibilities. The future is unknown and every example probably could work if technology advances far enough. Changes of the future that excite me the most are ideas of school be all technology based. This might be a solution to pollution because it is saving many items that aren't biodegradable.
Ideas that i am apprehensive about are there being no teachers. I learn best with hands on learning and I need teachers.

  21. There are many predictions for how the future schools will be taught run and all of the other aspects of school. There were many predictions about everyone would have a tablet and that everything would be online. I agree with that the schools may go this way, it would very awesome to have all of our materials online. But for my project I talked about how a scientist was working towards making "cyborgs" by 2045. He says he will make a computerized consciousness and personality after he creates a body that will fit with the robots. But I don't know if that will happen by the time he believes it will, but if that is the case we wouldn't need school. In the future I believe it will fit to the first example.

  22. I think that schools in the future will be a little more different. School will have more technology because it will become easier to get since its has gotten so advanced over the years. What mostly excites me for the future is to see the differences we had and the kids that are going to be in schools. I hope that there will be not as much school hours in the day. Also i think that kids should be tought harder things in school when they are little. If they are tought harder things at earlier ages the kids will be able to understand the subjects easier. When kids are little they nothing to do but pay attention in class they engage into the subject and learn more about it for future preparations of high school.

  23. Future education scares me to be honest. I doubt that a huge change in technology will increase the brain power of the population. The thought of drugs used for increased focus does not sound logical but rather dangerous for the human species. New facilities would excite me due to a good change and better conditions. All in all, I believe that there are many pros and cons to the possible speculations regarding the future of education, but the world will have to see where technology takes it.

  24. After looking through my classmates projects, its obvious that their ideas for future school are similar to mine in many ways. I believe that school wil become very automated and personal research based. With the current rate of personal technology advancement and the increasing amount of information online it makes feasible sense that school will follow technology along those paths.

  25. The Future Schools Project was very interesting. It was a great example of modern day extrapolation. I noticed that a lot of the extrapolations dealt with technology. Students would have access to computers, tablets, and smartphones that would be the guiding tool used in education. I also noticed that the role of teachers was pushed back into the background. They were more like a second resource than the primary teaching guide. In most of these schools it was also inferred that there would be a lot of security, much like an airport or even more advanced. The learning was also mostly self directed. That really excites me. I think it would be fun to learn like that, following what interests you. The security was one thing that I didn’t like, because it shows our increasing security state. Overall, it was a fun project that I really enjoyed.

  26. I found it interesting how most of us thought about the same topic and in the same way. Also it was nice to see how some students went beyond of what they were asked for; they even thought about the year 2053 in general. I also noticed that most mentioned security and how it will get more strict. I believe that we are all unconsciously concerned about our own security now a days. I really like the website that a group created because to me it looked modern and it was very creative of them. I can not wait to see if our predictions about the year 2053 will be like we thought it will be like.

  27. I saw that most people thought outside of the box. They created web pages, slideshows and google docs were also used. I like that we could format our own ideas of what the future is going to be like, and that we could share these ideas with each other. I noticed that people were aiming for comfort at school, an example is the “nap pod”. It also seems like they want to replace teachers with robots! Which is really very cool. It also appeared like the students were tired of carrying heavy book in their bags, and decided to think of many new ways to replace textbooks. I really enjoyed walking around today.

  28. The most obvious trends I saw in the presentations I looked at were security and technology. Technology advances ranged from touch screen desks to advanced ID cards. Some of the technology I thought was a little over the top and included just for the sake of this project but I also saw many good, well thought out ideas. The things that worried me most about the school of the future was the extremely high security. What is the high security needed for? What are we scared so scared of?

    Blog #2:

The new technology that is more likely to be abundant in schools is the robot that does hard labor while the teacher is on Skype talking to the class. The robot can move around and pass out papers and the teacher can pay attention to a particular student. The invention I am excited about is the holographic textbook, children won't forget to bring it in class because it can easily fit in your pocket. The invention that I am the least excited about is the nap pod. The nap pod design looks like a person can be trapped inside.

  30. Seems to me that everyone has common ideas on how future schools will become.Technology has been advancing through centuries of time and will continue allows the human species to live smarter and longer. Who knows how school will look like in 2053 maybe there wont even be a such thing.
