  1. After reviewing the song lyrics, the ne stanza of lyrics that stood out to me are by Zager and Evans in their song, "In the year 2525," "In the year 2525/If man is still alive/If woman can survive/They may find..." (Zager and Evans). I think that this quote perfectly describes xenophobia because it asks if humans can survive in the future and this could possibly mean surviving with another intelligent species. If humans have xenophobia then they will not survive.

  2. These song lyrics go along with the fact that "The space men" are very unknown but they have very open minded lyrics talking about how they would like to meet him and become friends with aliens. If anything they are the opposite of xenophobia. They are unknown but the lyrics convey that they would like to be friends with the aliens.

  3. They do connect with the concept of xenophobia because aliens are not common or even existing life forms on Earth. Therefore, to us they are outsiders that we are afraid of because we do not know if they are good or bad. A lyric from a song played said, "Hey Mr. Spaceman won't you please take me along. I won't do anything wrong." This lyric shows how the lifeforms know that they are not bad and will not do anything wrong. However from the perspective of the Spaceman or the people living there currently, they all carry this fear that the lifeforms aren't good so they question it and are unsure.

  4. The songs and Alien Song Lyrics connect with the xenophobia by showing how the unknown is a scary idea but with the unknown also brings curiosity and the songs we listened to in class were about going into space and exploring the unknown.

  5. the chorus of "starman" says that theirs a starman waiting in the sky, he'd like to come and meet us but he thinks he'll blow our minds. this could represent xenophobia because the starman is hesitant to meet the earth people because he possibly doesn't know what will happen

  6. the song "spaceman" and the lyrics show a sort of unknown being, but the person singing is more hopeful than fearful. the lyrics "hey mr. spaceman won't you please take me along" shows that the person singing isn't scared of the spaceman, but they want to go with the them. the first two songs are more positive than fearful

Mars ain’t the kind of place to raise your kids
In fact it’s cold as hell
And there’s no one there to raise them if you did
And all this science I don’t understand
It’s just my job five days a week
A rocket man, a rocket man. The rocket man connects to xenophobia through the use of the line of Mars is cold as hell, no place to raise a family, this is xenophobia. Because of the mindset of earth is the only place to do anything like raise a family.

  8. The songs connect with the concept of xenophobia because a lot of the songs are about space and space in general is very foreign because humans haven't explored 100% so the unknown can scare people. In the song Spaceman by the Killers a lyric says "That I could leave this star-crossed world behind". This shows xenophobia because he wants to go somewhere else that is foreign even though it scares him.

  9. They talk about getting abducted. Buckets on their heads refers to people who think there are aliens.

  10. The songs connect with the concept of Xenophobia because the artists are singing about getting abducted, zombies, aliens, and space. They are singing about the concept of the unknown. Which beings people in and think.

  11. I don't think that they are very similar in the terms of xenophobia that we have seen in the stories so far but some of them do address this topic. It started with a low light, Next thing I knew they ripped me from my bed And then they took my blood type. These are lyrics of the song Spaceman by The Killers and I think that this is the most xenophobic out of all of them so far because this is so far the only time anything is hostile toward the spaceman. Even though these songs are about spacemen and things like that I don't think that are necessarily xenophobia.

  12. After listening to some of these Alien Song Lyrics, I feel like some of them do relate to xenophobia, and some of them don't. The song Mr. Spaceman by The Byrds, the lyrics say, "Hey Mr. Spaceman, would you please take me along", that doesn't relate to our xenophobia definition at all, and showing fear towards races other than ours. However, there's also the song Zombies Ate My Neighbors by Single File, and in this song there's lyrics saying "Call the neighbor kids with trash can lids and buckets in on their heads, cause I'm telling you... we're gonna need a little help tonight", which to me basically tells me that there's a 'war' that is about to go down between humans and aliens, because they're afraid of them. So I'd say there's a good mix with the songs that agree and disagree with our xenophobia definition.

  13. After listening and reading to the lyrics of the Alien Songs I believe that they relate to xenophobia. Lots of the songs describe being abducted by aliens which shows that humans have a lot of stereotypes for aliens. They believe that the only thing aliens would be interested in is abducting humans and performing experiments on them. Both "Spaceman" and "They're not here, there coming" describe aliens taking humans from their bed or from Earth.

  14. Many of these songs are focusing around aliens. Some of the artists seem to have more fear about aliens, while other artists seem like they don't care much or don't believe in them. In Mr. Spacemen by The Byrds, they sing “Hey Mr. Spaceman, won't you please take me along, I won't do anything wrong, hey Mr. Spaceman, won't you please take me along for a ride”. These lyrics don't show any xenophobia because they are not showing any fear in the idea of aliens.

  15. The songs connect with xenophobia but seem to take it much lighter. Many of the sangs describe spending time with aliens so they do not show much fear of foreign beings. The song "zombies ate my neighbor" song has a more scared vibe. All of the songs connect in some way to science fiction and xenophobia.

  16. The song, Zombies Ate My Neighbor really reminded me of xenophobia, because he is talking about having a revolt against the zombies. One lyric that stood out to me was "I'd much rather choke and die than sit and fall without a fight!" This is because he doesn't like the zombies, or is afraid of them, so he is willing to fight them.

  17. They are not super similar to the terms of xenophobia we have seen in our stories so far but they do talk about it a little bit. The lyrics of the song Spaceman is the most xenophobic out of them because it has one part that is hostile toward the spacemen which are probably alien lifeforms. That is one of the only examples of xenophobia.

  18. Yes they do, because there is a lot of fear in the lyrics sung. They are the exact depiction of xenophobia yet in fun songs that makes it easier to notice that it is indeed packed full of xenopbic phrases and terms

  20. These songs are about the familiarity of Earth, with the author begging to be brought back to such a familiar place. The safety and known areas on Earth are better than the unknown and unexplored areas that are sang about in these two songs. The unknown areas on these unexplored planets scare the artists, who simply wish to be brought back home.

  21. These song lyrics say that he has no fear of xenophobia or the spacemen because the fact that the space men are very mysterious but the lyrics are talking about how they would like to meet him and become friends with him. They are mysterious but the lyrics say that he would like to be friends with the aliens very much.

  22. The lyrics in the song reflect xenophobia because it talks about how they fear. Although they are not completely about xenophobia a lot of ideas are mentions ad phrase talking about the concept of xenophobia.

  23. Throughout the song it doesn't specifically state or express xenophobia, but the naive attitude about the "aliens". Its shown that in the song, the songwriter wants to meet the "aliens" and become friends with them. I'm not sure if he fears them but if he's confused or misled.
