  3. My definition of xenophobia is a fear of outsiders or things that are different than you. My card said "tap your foot while I'm speaking" and I was really confused on what they were doing. I think people who feared of wonder why people do the things they do against them.

  5. Xenophobia means that you are having an irrational fear of something or someone that inst normal. The card activity personally didnt really make much sense but looking at other people it was interesting how people can act differently when they have a stigma but the person doesn't even realize it. Its not always bad though sometimes it was laughing or agreeing but other times it was ignore me or interrupt me. Its just interesting

  6. My definition of xenophobia is being fearful or uncomfortable with something that is unknown or unfamiliar. Xenophobia can make a person feel lesser or like they need to change something about themselves to be accepted. My card told people to laugh at what I say, which wasn't anything mean at all. However, if I was trying to say something serious, then it would probably be offensive if people just laughed it off all the time.

  7. My definition of xenophobia is fearing aliens or things from other planets. The card activity made me realize that a lot of people actually do some of these things. My card said "Take everything I say as a personal insult" and I think a lot of people actually do that a lot. If someone takes everything as an insult would other people really want to be around them or are they kind of treated like an alien. Fear can be connected to xenophobia cause people that act different can be treated as an outsider or an alien.

  8. Xenophobia is a fear of anyanything new or strange, I believe the card activity enforced a stigma to ignore those who had a certain card which could be viewed as xenophobic

  9. The definition of Xenophobia is the fear of someone from a different planet or country. Basically the fear of an outsider. With the cards people did not look at you, some people ignored you, and some people interrupted you when you were talking. It made me feel like an outsider because no one would look at my face when I was talking but I also felt like I was making people feel like an outsider when I ignored them or when I would interrupt them.

  10. My definition of xenophobia of is the irrational fear of other people from different places. The card made me think that my definition is right because the cards had us act differently to people as if they were different because they are from somewhere else. My card is laugh at what I say and this how some people might feel if they are see as different because they are from somewhere else.

  11. My definition of xenophobia id the fear of like ET life. The card activity made me think that things with other life can be really hard to communicate. I would connect sort of a scared emotion from the concept of xenophobia because phobia is the fear of something.

  12. My definition of Xenophobia is the fear of new/different things. The card activity mostly made me feel agreed with because my card was, “Nod at me!” so no matter what I said people nodded as though they were agreeing. WIth the ignore me cards and the dancing cards it made people act awkwardly or it just seemed weird when people start dancing at them. With “nod at me” I relate to acceptance and belonging because agreement often feels like being heard and loved. Xenophobia in Science Fiction is most often indicated by a fear of an alien race but it can also be fear of new technology or new societal norms.

  13. Xenophobia is the fear of people from different countries or origins and sometimes culture. This can also include in the fear of objects of people that are strange or foreign. They aren’t typically present in one’s daily life before encountering it. The card activity made me think about my definition more because it showed how oblivious people can be in conversation. It also showed how it made people feel worthless or that people didn’t care about them and I think this relates to this definition. The definition says that people are typically scared of foreign life and this leads to people being kind of mean and nasty towards people. I think that when most people think of aliens or extraterrestrial life they normally associate them with bad thoughts like scary, weird, or dangerous. My card said “Don’t Look at My Face” and this was pretty obvious to pick up on because eye contact plays such an important role in conversation. The card activity really helped me see how people view these foreign creatures and how quick they are to make an opinion on them.

  14. My definition of Xenophobia is the fear of the fear of aliens. This idea connects with the fear of the unknown with the card activity. Everyone interrupting me made it feel like I was getting bullied and I suddenly felt like an alien to everyone else. The emotion fear plays a huge role in the idea because were taught to be scared of what we don't know and that fear causes unnecessary clouding of judgement

  15. My definition of xenophobia before the activity was very similar to what everyone else had been saying at the beginning of class. Basically just the fear of aliens or someone from a different country(which is technically a definition of alien). My card said “ask my opinion” which I didn’t really feel was very related to xenophobia, maybe that people from other countries have different opinions about things or maybe they have similar opinions or thoughts about me that I have about them based on where they are from or what they act like or do. The activity made me think about maybe xenophobia not just being the fear of someone from another place or country, but just someone who is different than you in some way.

  16. My definition of Xenophobia is the fear of unfamiliarity to new things like extraterrestrial things and people. This can happen everywhere around the world. Sometimes you can stereotype a person or even a country before getting to know them or it. My card was start dancing when I talk. This doesn't really something to do with stereotypes but other cards don't seem as big but can turn out big to someone else.

  18. My own definition of Xenophobia is the idea of being fearful of unusual occurrences or "foreign things". When I had the "Take Everything I Say as an Insult" card, I felt strange was everyone seemed to be a bit offended whenever I made a random noise. I enjoyed this activity, for it required all the students to put their critical thinking and socialization to the test.

  20. My definition of xenophobia is the fear of people that are different from you. The card activity made me think of my definition of xenophobia because some peoples card meant for them to be ignored and that doesn’t feel good. My card was to dance everytime I started talking. Doesn’t directly relate, but I can see how the activity is connected.

  21. I perceive xenophobia as an irrational fear of something that is unknown. I feel like most commonly it is a fear of some person or character that is unknown however I think that it can show itself in many other ways as well.

  26. Xeniphobia is the fear of something diffrent than you are use too. This means that xenophobia happens in day to day life. This concept can be the start of wars and some of the worlds biggest problems. It is cool to see how it is perceived in the real world compared to in Sifi books. And that is what I liked most about xenophobia in Sifi.
