Future Schools In 2057?

Now that you have read many of your peers' Future School Extrapolation Projects, what are you thinking?  Holistically, what are your reasonable extrapolations regarding all of the extrapolations you have read?  What potential changes excite you the most?  What potential changes fill you with angst and apprehension?  Other thoughts?

  1. Most of the presentations all had holograms, but most of them had very good ideas. The fact that homework will be enhanced with the use of technology. The thing that most filled me with concern was the fact that in some cases school was just screens which is very bad for because of the blue light killing your brain cells.

  2. The schools in the future look really nice. They just look to advanced and to much technology will be with them. Something that I realized was that we will be much more advanced in everything our smarts, schools, agriculture, and architecture, and many more things to be advanced in. Something I didn't like was that we might have to stay on school campus until we get out of school. Everything looks nice but it seems to fast for 40 years. I'd be 54 when this starts to get around this advanced that we saw in the presentations. Overall looks like too much advancement in general.

  3. That schools will be completely different from the present and that people will have a lot of more advanced technologies and peoples education will be more to help the student. School will be a place of learning and academic pride and every kid will be able to do whatever they want with their lives.

  4. The change of the classroom is going to be the greatest thing because based on the presentations there will be a lot of changes to the classroom and what they can teach you. Also how they teach you like with robots or people teaching you. I can’t wait for the lunch system because it will be better and it will have a wider variety of foods that are good and are not trash like today’s lunch food. The reasonable extrapolations are that the classroom and tech will be a lot more advanced and we will have more to offer out students when it comes to learning and progressing to adulthood.

  5. After reading many different Future Schools Extrapolation Projects, I noticed that everybody has a much different view on what our future will be like. Based on all the projects that I read, it seems to me that the future that we predict will have more eco friendly transportation, have more ways of learning for students, and even things that we aren’t close to now such as a brain chip.

  6. I think everyone expects for technology to almost completely take over our world. Most everyone said that teaching will be done by robots or by professors via holograms. People were also saying that there will be more "life" classes in school, teaching students how to cope with the real world issues and realities. I think it is exciting and very unnerving that technology will play such a big part in the future of humanity, hopefully we don't lose ourselves to it and forget what it means to be a human being.

  7. Right off the bat, I noticed some similar ideas. Those include robots and holograms replacing teachers, professional based dress code, large advancements in technology, sustainability and solar panels, and food improvements. I think the future will be full of new and clean looking things.

  8. I noticed that a lot of presentations mentioned robots either taking over the roles of teachers or assisting them. One idea I found interesting is having dorms at high schools or that everything will be recycled. Most of the presentations I viewed had a positive outlook of the future.

  9. This project has made me think about how quickly science and technology are progressing and advancing through the years. It was exciting to see some of the ideas that involved new classrooms and workspaces that provide more resources for the students. Even though some of the ideas sounded exciting, others seemed as though our learning techniques and values that we use today will be completely lost in the future.

  10. I think that I like the way my generation sees school in the future. Mostly geared toward helping the students learn. Improvements to transportation and food seemed to be common through a lot of the projects. I would be most excited for the changes to transportation, self driving cars are a really cool idea and a lot safer. A lot of the projects said that it would be a robot teaching the class, I don’t quite think that’s a great idea. Students can look up to some of their more memorable teachers, and that can shape the type of person they become, if a student is taught by AI for their whole life then they miss out on that, and other, opportunities.

  11. While I was reading some of the Extrapolation Projects, I noticed that a lot of them had something in common. They all had something relating to robots. Whether it was teachers or advanced technology, everyone believed that in some way, robots would be more prevalent in 2057. I’m excited to see what computers turn into in 2057. I’m excited to see holograms and super advanced technology to help teach kids. I’m not excited to see where self driving cars take us because I really like driving and I don’t want that to be taken away. Also flying cars will be scary because there will be a lot of fatalities because of it.

  12. I think that most of the changes could happen. Something that exits me is all of the ways that school might change in the way of how students go about there daily life because a lot of these changes were about transportation or the technology that helps with school. Eco friendly schools were a common theme in the future schools and I think that would help with how people produce energy.

  13. All the future activities get me pumped for what life will be like. Also the eco friendly environment, with the learning aspect and hover cars and boards. But I am scared about the dangers that could come about from these new changes.

  14. After viewing everyone's ideas of future schools, I am thinking about the awesome ideas that people have thought of. When the project was introduced, the thought of schools so far in the future was really freaky. However, after viewing some of the ideas people have thought of, it seems much less scary. One of my favorites was going back though history with the use of virtual reality. The idea of being able to do that is super interesting and fun. The idea that robots will basically be taking over schools upsets me. I don't like the idea that there could be a loss of jobs just because of technology.

  15. It appears that most people agree that technology will become the teacher and will either replace, or help the physical teacher. Eco Friendly schools were also a thing that most people were hoping to happen as well as teaching the students on solar energy and how to harness it. Both of these things excites me because i'm looking forward to the future and I’m ready for it.

  16. When reading many of my classmates presentations I found many great ideas but something that stood out to me was how many students believe the future with be filled with robotic staff members and a strict learning environment. With this I also found many students have amazing ideas with holograms or holodecks. The technological advances would help teach students many things environments and methods.

  17. It is interesting to see all of the different ideas and beliefs that our classmates have about the future. I am most excited for a holographic computer if scientists ever make one. One trend I noticed is many of us are willing to create a eco friendly environment which really touches me because I like nature and a good future of earth through the positivity that our classmates have about this.

  18. After reading other group’s projects, I realized every person has a different view of what our future will be. They are all within the same boundaries of ideas but each have their own twists. The most popular idea is the loss of teachers due to the increase of technology. Holograms and robots will take the spots of teachers as they are cheaper and smarter than a teacher. A few groups talked about schools providing electric buses and cars for students but I think that won’t happen because the car industry is too big. All of the electronic advances are very exciting but one group talked about lunches becoming 5 star meals and that was my favorite. I don’t have much to not look forward to because it’s all new and no one knows how it will end up.

  19. The ideas many kids had were really cool to me, because there was a lot of positivity projected in the future and we are the future and I'm hoping we can make that happen. Also there was a lot of common ideas of the future, with lasers and totally different ideas of clothes, definitely kind of reminded me of the idea of the show "black mirror"

  20. After seeing my peers projects, I discovered common themes of technology filled schools, individual-paced learning, and robotic teachers. Right now, our schools have a myriad of different types of technology; smart boards, projectors, laptops, tvs. We use most or all of these things in our day-to-day school lives. But this doesn't actually mean we have the most advance or even the largest amount of technology availible. Many people predicted that education will be completely education based in the future, with personal computers and VR rooms, to robotic teachers. While I think this integration is great, and technology can do nothing but advance a students education, I was worried by how often students stated there will no longer be teachers in the future. Robots and AI are incredible inventions, but I believe the student-teacher interaction is incredibly important to the learning process, and getting rid of human teachers can disrupt this. Finally, I was really excited by all the mentions of students each learning at their own pace. Whether this was because we will learn in individual virtual-reality rooms, or if we will complete lessen plans at our own speed on personal tablets, I believe this prediction of personal pacing will greatly help both slow and fast learners in the future.

  21. After looking at everyone's ideas, it seems the most popular idea was no teachers. Rather they be substituted with robots or students just take online classes, the teachers seem almost non existent, in everyones perspective on the teaching style. Potential changes that excite me the most are how schools will hopefully become more technologically advanced and lunches should become healthier for all students.

  22. After seeing my peers Future School Extrapolation Projects, I noticed lots of people included classes that prepare you for real problems. I really liked this idea because preparing you for real life problems is what school is designed to do. Today, we learn about the slope of a line or how to diagram sentences. In the future we could have classes designed for our adulthood. I noticed a few projects had the idea that kids' parents won't drive them to school any longer. I think this could be beneficial for working parents, but you lose a connection with your parents. I noticed barely anyone had teachers. It was all replaced. I think this could sometimes be good for students who don’t have good relationships with teachers or for the kids who suck up to the teachers, but again we are losing more of the connection with humans if we get rid of teachers.

  23. School are very different in the future. A common pattern was robots were replaced with teachers. Also virtual reality and holographs were used for educational purposes. Everything is online and the common teaching styles are non existent. Lunches seem to be very healthy and students seem to be very active. The dress code has become very lenient. Also transportation has become very self sufficient.

  24. There were a lot of ideas touched on in other presentations that I didn’t consider. For example, security and the environment were topics that were covered, but I didn’t see anything about how sports will change. Many projects assumed that hologram technology would be widespread, but this technology is unlikely to be implemented. One particular idea that I thought was really interesting was the learning test. Basically, students were tested at the beginning of the year to determine what kind of learner they were (kinesthetic, audio, visual) and then placed them on particular learning paths with other students who learn in a similar style. Also, they could collaborate with students around the world. It was an amazing idea.

  25. After viewing other presentations, I noticed that there were a lot of common extrapolations about future school. One common one was that there would be no teachers. Instead, there would be a computer or robot that students would get information from. It sounded like people would just get flooded with information and would need to retain all of it. That was the most realistic extrapolation that I saw. One change that excited me was to have school start and end later in the day. I think that it is a great idea. One change that made me feel apprehensive was that there would be a loss of individualism, and that students would all be stuck in uniforms and not be able to express themselves with other classmates.

  26. I think that most of the extrapolations were very thought out and they were very good. Many of the extrapolations sounded realistic regarding academics and architect with having recycling being required and more eco friendly things being made. Many of the things excite me such as the architect and online classes. None of the ideas presented filled me with angst they all seem like normal ideas that could happen in the future.

  27. Most of the presentations of future schools had robots and Eco friendly designs to the buildings and the classroom s.The teacher elimination had fascinated me because I would struggle. At the same time it would be a lot more structured learning. I feel that school in the future be be pretty technologically advanced.

  28. I think that everyone made their projects based on the assumption that things in the future will be an improvement compared to the way things are today. But most science fiction doesn't show how the world will improve, but how the world will deteriorate. In the future there will be no more schools, because the remainder of mankind will be struggling for survival.
I think more people should have made their project on this idea, and explore the possibility that things will get worse before they get better.

  30. Absent/Make up work
I believe that the future will be a radioactive world that has lots of high tech things but won't be what we are all expecting such as brain chips that make us more intellectual. Also, I feel like we will get some space travel done before earth starts becoming uninhabitable.

  31. In the future, I believe that technology will play a much bigger role in the education system. Robots will replace teachers, the way students learn will change, and technology will replace the use of paper, which will help our environment. Overall, I think that if this happens, the future of our education looks positive.
