After reading the New Sagan Time Travel Article and visiting Brian’s Views web link, what are your revised thoughts, concerns, or musings regarding time travel? Please complete this blog response during class today.
I think that time travel is a tricky concept. While reading the New Sagan Time Travel article and Brian's View a lot of questions and concerns came to mind. If time traveling in to the past was possible, wouldn't we already be aware of time travel? No one is that cautious that they would be able to freely time travel without causing some ripple effect. That being said, I think the New Sagan Time Travel article brought up a few really good points. Something to maybe think about is if time traveling into the past is possible, would it only be possible to go as far back as the day time travel was first completed? If so, what would be restricting people from going back too far?
Time Travel. People think its possible. Its more likely possible to time travel into the future then the past. When on one of the articles it says what if we go into the past and we did something that would affect our future, like killing our grandfather, i thought this was a interesting way to think about it. Like would we still be here? Would we even come back to normal life? Or would you not have a life?
I didn't really know that people of which study science truly believed time travel could happen. I think it's interesting that both articles believed that it would be much harder to travel back in time rather than forward in time. To me it doesn't seem much different, it would be like a light switch, turning it off is the same level of difficulty as on, it just has a change in results. What I believe about time travel is that if it was possible to travel back in time and not be invisible or in a different universe or dimension, we would know. If someone were to go back in time and tell Abraham Lincoln that time travel is real, we would know about that. That is something in our past and time travel would automatically alter that. The other situation is traveling forwards, which we wouldn't know about.
I think that it could be possible that one day we do time travel. I think that if it is possible it will not happen for a long time. It is interesting to think that if it is possible in "Brians view on time travel" They talk about how if we would have been alive in 1903 when the first flight was taken it would have been something we were very excited about and thought would maybe never happen, but now it is a normal occurring thing. They say the same thing could happen with time travel, we don't think it will ever happen but maybe it will and like planes it will be a normal occurring thing.
I thoughts on time travel is that is not possible because a single photon cannot travel faster than the speed of light. Although it may not be possible peoples theory's are pretty good. I liked the concept of the worm hole where you can go from your universe to another. My concern in time travel if it was possible would be that people able to change the time in the past that will alter the future.
After reading these passages I feel that time travel is getting closer to a reality. However the experiments conducted demonstrate limited time travel and the mathematical theories presented are just that. I believe that time travel can be a possibility but it will not be accomplished for a long time, and if it is achieved it will be strictly regulated.
I believe that time travel is very strange and it has a lot of bends and twists that can make it hard to follow at points. It can go back and forth from future and also past that ends up getting mixed up and turns into a big jumbled mess. Then there is the grandfather paradox that is very hard to get your head wrapped around and it just over is is a very tricky concept to completely understand.
After reading the two passages, I noticed that there were quite a few mentions of paradoxes, or how to avoid them at least. I do believe that time travel might be possible but I strongly believe the theory about just not being able to travel back in time, due to paradoxes.
