My definition of xenophobia is the fear of something that is different than the norm. Either by appearance or emotion. The card game added more to my definition becuase it brought attention how people acting weird can be concerning. For my card it was agree with me but then disagree with me which provide weird interactions and awkward moments and created concerning interactions.
ReplyDeleteXenophobia is the irrational fear of foreigners. With the card activity, it shined a light on how these outsiders can be treated differently simply because of their origin. For example, "Don't look at my face!" gave me insight into how these foreign beings may be ignored or feared. In science fiction, xenophobia usually refers to a fear for one's life from an extraterrestrial being. Other emotions may also include fascination, such as Casey's expression upon seeing the 9-foot stick figure.
ReplyDeleteMy definition of xenophobia is the fear of the unknown or irregular. Xenophobia can sometimes be connected with fear. My card was "Laugh at what I say" and it was odd and different that what I might be used to.
ReplyDeleteMy definition of Xenophobia is a prejudice of aliens or a fear of aliens or something strange. the card activity didn't really make me think about my definition. The emotions that I assign with the term Xenophobia is fear or hatred.

I think xenophobia is being prejudice against someone else just because they are from somewhere else. The card activity made me think about how everyone has a different reaction to different things. I had the card "Ask my opinion" and everyone had a different response to it. I also had the card "Take everything I say as a personal insult" and it was definitely different with how people would treat me. Some would be offended and others were kind of casual about it.

Not liking a person based on the fact that they are different from you. The card activity did show really much anything of xenophobia we were told to act a certain way it was not an international response towards a peer. One of my cards said dance when I speak, I did really get how that would be part of the activity as it’s not a real reaction. Like you are not going to go to some who is different and start dancing at them. I think you’d really startled them. Brei
ReplyDeleteI believe the definition of xenophobia is the fact of a person or persons afraid of foreign people or biological beings. In the card activity we used things that made it awkward to talk to other people. This could show how people could act towards foreigners or other beings from different planets.
ReplyDeleteThe definition of Xenophobia I think is judging a person that is different then you. I got the cards Ignore Me! and Agree with Me! which was interesting because those cards are completely opposite. Being the person ignored was kinda just sad because you feel like your in the class conversation but really your just a body. Also being on the other side where everyone agreed with me no matter what shows the power I have.
ReplyDeleteI define Xenophobia as being afraid of people or things from other countries or planets. The card activity made me think about Xenophobia in a new way, instead of being afraid of the different people based on their own beliefs, their afraid based on facts that may or may not be true. "Take everything I say as a personal insult".
ReplyDeleteI thought xenophobia was a fear of xenomorphs but it's fear of people from different countries. The card activity made me think how lots of people are treated super differently and they don't know why just like with the cards. My card was ask me questions. Nate
ReplyDeleteI had no idea what my card said but from how people where acting i definitely got a pretty good idea. My first card was dont look at my face and nobody looked at me or talked to me so i made the connection. My last card said every time i speak, start dancing then. It was kind of an awkward interaction but fun. I would say its a way to infer things off of actions.
