  1. I feel like after watching the film, the quote really makes no impact on me. The film definitely has some science fiction qualities to it, but other Sci-Fi shows and movies have their own Sci-Fi ideas on their own. Without the film, other Sci-Fi stories would still exist and be just as good.

  2. I feel as if after watching Forbidden Planet that I am still able to separate the purpose between films. While there may be some similarities, I can't say it affected me to the point where I can only think about Forbidden Planet

  3. I'm contemplating how one character in that movie became so popular. In my opinion, he doesn't seem like the type of character that would become so popular but he did. All in all, Forbidden Planet was a turning point in Science Fiction and the way it became so popular in movies.

  4. I can see from the article that Forbidden Planet was an influential film, with memorable characters and new concepts and soundtrack style. The film helped to give credibility and legitimacy to the genre of science fiction and contributed many resounding ideas to science fiction film. I think this is what Matthews meant by this quote.

  5. In my personal opinion, I completely agree with the quote. It does seem as if many of the science fiction franchises that we all know and love (Star Wars, Star Trek, and Doctor Who) were all heavily inspired by Forbidden Planet. This film also seems to have been very influential to other forms of science fiction with special effects, with many usages of special effects in other series very much resembling the effects in this film.

  6. The film is creative, unique, and ahead of its time. Like the quote from Charles Matthew says, I feel that plenty of characters and concepts can be traced back to or similar to that of Forbidden Planet. Even while the film isn't the most exiting, it definitely has helped to shape science fiction as we know it today.

  7. Although subsequent sci-fi stories may not be indebted to Forbidden Planet, or even inspired by it, I agree that every new breakthrough in a genre serves as a foundation for other stories based on it. Forbidden Planet featured many new breakthroughs, including the sound design, CGI,otherworldly setting, and creative sci-fi technologies.Taking this into account, it is surely reasonable to say that most sci-fi has been influenced in some way by Forbidden Planet.

  8. I am contemplating what modern science fiction would be like without the Forbidden Planet that we currently know. The film was such an influential piece because of the setting, sound, and story. In the making of the movie, pieces of the Wizard of Oz set were reused in certain scenes to give that look of a mystical, new world. The sound was different from all others at the time because it encapsulated the viewer in the scene to make them feel as if they were among the space crew. Finally, the story has similar plot points to almost all other science fiction films of the modern era. For these reasons, I can only wonder how different science fiction would be if it weren't for this film.

  9. After watching the film and reading the article Forbidden Planet gave lots of influence to movies and stories after its release. The soundtrack and the setting of the movie gave lots of ambiguous ideas to producers and creators looking to make outworldly science fiction during the time. You could credit Forbidden Planet for giving influence to science fiction even in the 21st century.

  10. I can see how this quote holds up. There were a lot of elements in the story that if they were the first, then the movie was the start of science fiction movies. For example the special effects, space exploration, and other worldly monsters.

  11. I think that the article only validates the fact that Forbidden Planet was very ahead of its time and an incredibly influential piece of media. From the practical effects, such as the trucks and Robby to the concepts and plot points, Forbidden Planet is a movie that will forever set the standard for science fiction.

  12. After watching forbidden planet, I don't agree with the quote. Because even though the movie has science fiction qualities to it, other movies and shows have their own science fiction input to them.

  13. After seeing Forbidden Planet, it is easy to draw connections between it and other Sci-Fi media at the time. But I do not believe it directly influenced all Sci-Fi, it was just one of the first to even try at the concept

  14. Upon reading the article and quotation (and seeing the movie itself), it was interesting to see the different ways that people view Forbidden Planet. I do agree with the quote as well. This movie was far ahead of its time and helped to bring so many new concepts into 50s - 60s media and pop culture. It introduced a soundtrack that had never been heard of before and that (in my opinion) was so influential in every sci-fi movie that has been released since.

  15. The forbidden planet sets up so many themes for the american sci-fi genre. It's innovative soundtrack and robot character design can be reflected into many movies we see today. Even introducing the problem with sexism in the media in the way the female characters were displayed
