Xenophobia And Alien Planets?

  1. I didn't really see any examples of Xenophobia to be honest.

  2. it shows what other people find odd and "scary"

  3. I noticed that there were a lot of creative ideas. I think this can relate to xenophobia because of the outside creatures and something disliking those outside creatures.

  4. I saw lots of different types of alien life forms and planets. all of them were pretty cool.

  5. I saw a lot of unique planets with their own different creatures, cultures, and way of living, but I noticed that a lot of them were pretty similar to human behavior in different ways. Looking at these projects helps me see that even if as humans we're accepting of other life forms, we still don't know what to expect from what could be out there.

  6. In other projects, I noticed that there were a few that had elements and not species, there were some with multiple eyes on their body and more than four legs. This project helped us delve into xenophobia because we came up with our own planet of creatures not necessarily known to man or that know of humans. They are different to us and we would be different to them. This project also helped us think about what it takes to make a planet and how we could think of aliens ourselves. There are so many different ways that an alien planet is projected.

  7. I noticed a lot of similar ideas. Many of the creatures were either bipedal or quadrupedal, showing that sometimes xenophobia restrains us from imagining things unlike our own. I also saw a lot of earth-like planets with similar atmospheres and biomes. I also saw a good amount of creatures that were intended to look intimidating. This shows that xenophobia is most commonly expressed through fear of unlike things.

  8. When looking at the alien planets that everyone designed Im able to say that I didn't see any xenophobia. I think that when thinking about it actively it is easy to be open to other people of creatures and not present xenophobic behaviors. Although, when placed in a real environment, with real experiences, they may be more present. I think that in a real situation there would be more present that really thinking about just because people care about their safety.

  9. What I noticed that is related to xenophobia was when I would look at pictures of the life forms on the plant and right away make a judgement on if they were good or evil. Trends that I noticed was that all the planets had humanoids, which was different than our planet.

  10. I noticed that groups were very creative with their creatures and many original pictures were created, and I think this relates to xenophobia by seeing all the original creatures created and they didn't have to be pretty to be good and also in many projects there were predators and prey and some of those species could have been invaders and that ties greatly into xenophobia

  11. most of the species on the created planets had very sort of stereotyped names. The creatures however were very creative, like the planet with the different pig species.

  12. I noticed there are alot of weird and interesting creatures that people created. This projected helped look into xenophobia by maybe the realization of different things out in space, strange planets or creatures etc.

  13. I noticed that a lot of the aliens were similar to things on Earth. It's hard to see xenophobia because humans haven't seen any unfamiliar types of life yet. If we're to encounter aliens in the future, I hope that we expect it and treat the situation strategically.

  14. When looking at the Alien Planet Projects, there were multiple similarities across them. Some of the projects had the intelligent life forms have a religion that they follow. I noticed that that a lot of the planets had similar geography to Earth. I noticed how some species did not coexist peacefully with each other. This relates to xenophobia because these species fear each other because they are different.

  15. A lot of the projects had completely made up living things, but there seemed to be no xenophobia throughout the class. But everyone had their own assumptions of what an alien planet would be like.

  17. After viewing the Alien Planet Projects, it was very interesting to see everyone’s different take on making a planet with similarities and differences to Earth. This project helps use discuss xenophobia through all the ways we try to compare and contrast the planets with Earth. Creating and describing new planets and new creatures shows that we are much more used to and know Earth a lot better, but it expands our horizons a little bit. I thought it was interesting to see people’s work outside of their comfort zones, because pretty much anything outside of normal Earth is abnormal to us.

  18. All the Alien Projects did an awesome job of being imaginative and different from our world. These projects allowed the idea of xenophobia to be explored because the life created was all very different from what we actually know and are comfortable with. Overall, differences in the projects showed how each individual views alien life differently.

  19. I noticed that every project that I saw was very detailed in explaining the environment, but not so detailed in explaining the creatures. These projects help us delve into the concept of xenophobia by showing how while looking at different planets, we as viewers start to make judgements on the creatures or the planet itself just because of names or how it looked. Some interesting creatures such as the Sanic caused a good giggle among classmates because of memes and jokes that other people have seen around the internet.

  20. It seems as if most of the projects done by my peers are mad to seem much like earth. Most of the animals and creatures on the planets created were soft and easy going. None seemed to be scary or to strike fear. This shows that most people are hopeful that things outside of our know world are not meaning harm to us if we go to them, or if they come to use.

  21. I found it fun to consider how different a planet can be in our wildly huge universe. Also, it was interesting to learn how scientific aspects change the environment of a planet. I didn’t really see how xenophobia related outside of the fact that we were forced to create something different from yourself.

  22. As I viewed the Alien Planet Projects created by my peers I noticed that most of their life forms were a name and/or picture of a previously existing character which differs from our project because we made the names with random words/letters and drew our own life forms. These projects help us delve into the concept of Xenophobia because our definition of Xenophobia is the fear of change such as different cultures or those from the cultures, by making these alien projects we created new cultures and life forms then looked at others and either enjoyed what they had made or didn’t which is accepting each planets differences or further extending Xenophobia.

  23. I wasn't here to view other people's projects but based on my own project we created creatures that if people meant they would react differently showing an example of Xenophobia. Even tho there are different elements all creating the life forms of our planet meeting humans or any other life forms on other planets could scare them because they don't know them and don't know what they can do showing another example of Xenophobia.

  24. Absent

I wasn't in class during this day. Based on the project that I was a part of, however, it seemed as though creating an alien planet was inherently xenophobic. We created a planet, completey different from our own. I assume that many of the other projects also focused on creating something completey foreign. Overall, I thought that this project was extremely interesting.

  25. I think that this showed the creativeness of other people. Personally I really didn't see any Xenophobia but see how one could because you are creating a new life form. The majority of the new planets we created had a lot to do with one just imagining what a new planet would look like. One thing was the creatures we created. these could relate to Xenophobia.
