They each address the different ways that we would react to these other worldly things. Nilson states in his song that no one would love him anymore because he's an alien which would cause others to fear him or outcast him because he is different.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7398363838263714607.post-89149320731555066022016-11-07T10:39:40.242-07:002016-11-07T10:39:40.242-07:00The lyrics all have the theme of a thing coming do...The lyrics all have the theme of a thing coming down from the sky and bright lights. These composers use the fact that others fear things from places that are unknown to them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7398363838263714607.post-15725948325680665442016-11-06T20:34:49.330-07:002016-11-06T20:34:49.330-07:00All of these song lyrics deal with space explorati...All of these song lyrics deal with space exploration and the idea of xenophobia in some sense. More specifically, the song "They're not here, They're not coming" by Don Henley contains the line: They're not here, they're not coming, Not in a million years. I think this line reflects the idea of xenophobia because it is ignorant to think that in the vastness of our universe, no other life forms exist. So, when Don Henley says they will never come, I think it is more out of fear of the unknown, rather than actually believing no alien beings will come to Earth. This is just one example of how one of the songs deals with xenophobia, but many of the songs deal with fear of the unknown in a broader sense.<br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7398363838263714607.post-81781645388567323972016-11-02T16:03:00.842-06:002016-11-02T16:03:00.842-06:00These songs have to do with science fiction and xe...These songs have to do with science fiction and xenophobia because they are talking about space, the future, and zombies. Harry Nilsson sings "But now that I am a spaceman nobody loves me anymore." Although it isn't literal, this statement shows that he isnt liked for being different in some ways.
